Mill Co. Agency produces creative projects from film and photography to illustration, web design and event production. We’ve worked with brands such as Dr Martens, Topman, Canterbury of New Zealand, Hackney Council and Barclays Bank to name a few.

Mill Co: began in 2009 as a unique creative agency specialising in nurturing the skills of independent creatives to produce a broad mix of projects for brands and annual exhibitions of personal work by the collective. It became clear that physical space would be beneficial to house the creatives so Mill Co. evolved into one of the first not for profit, affordable workspace providers of it’s kind in London.
Mill Co. Partnerships: We work closely with borough councils, housing associations and private landlords to transform moth-balled buildings, add value to commercial spaces and place-make for large scale developers and councils. We’ve worked closely with the GLA, Hackney & Haringey councils and developers such as Notting Hill Genesis, Islington & Shoreditch Housing Association, Sanctury Housing among others. We are always on the look out for new commercial partners and local councils with which to work so please get in touch if you’d like to find out more.

Mill Co. is founded by director Claire Martin and co-run by Drucilla Burrell, Eva Borowska & Saskia Blum with strategic input from Janice Stainton. Our model reflects our founding Co-operative values and operates under a flat structure. You can meet our incredible team below.
Mill Co. founder & Director Claire studied Design Studies as Salford which paved the way for the career that followed. She started out in design and digital at a Manchester Record label before moving to London in 2002 to pursue a career in the fashion industry.
She worked in PR and marketing for brands such as Diesel, Wrangler and Topshop for 10 years before heading off to Mexico and Central America for a year to study yoga and whilst there, had the idea to set up a virtual creative agency harnessing the talents of contacts and friends under one virtual roof and Mill Co. Agency was born in 2009.
The virtual roof became a real one in 2010 when Mill Co. Studios (formerly Mill Co. Project) was born and fast became the first creative and truly independent workspace in East London. The studios business was founded on the same co-perative principles on which Mill Co. Agency was and still reflects her core values of co-operation. Coming from Rochdale, the birthplace of Co-operation, this has always been at the core of the Mill Co. values.
10 years on and Mill Co. Is thriving and has ran over 10 successful and unique buildings and produced countless projects and continues to evolve.
“In my spare time I work with horses in equine rehabilitation, podiatry and biomechanics which is probably going to form part of a research masters if time permits. I also do a bit of ridden coaching and I’m a Level 5 qualified Equine Facilitated Human Development practitioner and yoga teacher.”
Drucilla Burrell is a freelance Art Director and photographer based in London. She is the Student-Teacher Edition Lead at Adobe providing art direction for the EMEA Studio. Some of her projects can be found here: https://www.behance.net/studioadobe
She studied architecture, working in museum and exhibition design on graduation. She then moved into the field of Art education, running a private art school before becoming Head of Art and Marketing at The Conservatoire. Freelancing has provided a wide variety of exciting roles including Editor at ArtRabbit, co-curator at By Other Means gallery, Art Handler at international art fairs and a period working as a Painter Decorator!
Drucilla’s most recent photographic project, ‘Atelier Rococo’ was a collaborative photographic commission for the National Gallery X exploring alternative narratives surrounding traditional portraiture. Eva is an AAT qualified accountant and happy busy mum of teen and tween, living and working in the UK since 2007.
She has extensive experience of providing accounting services, financial reporting and specialist software implementing to companies and charities from arts and performance field, hospitality sector, civil engineering and property management.

A simple principle underpins all of Janice’s output – everything starts with insight. She empowers brands by understanding consumers and translating their needs into real-world applications.
She has worked with leading brands to develop retail experiences and environments for more than 11 years. Her focus areas include consumer insight, brand purpose, and experience strategy.
This year she collaborated with Nike to develop a new retail concept for Gen Z. Her prior experience includes years spent developing global retail concepts for Adidas. Her other notable clients include Basketball England, FILA, New Balance, and the All Blacks. She has also worked with galleries across the UK, including reimagining the visitor journey for The National Gallery, London.
Janice’s approach is collaborative; she works closely with clients and brings new perspectives to meet their challenges.
Her love of street art was formed at a young age under the influence of her brother. She seeks out murals in each city she visits, from Paris to Los Angeles. As the world reopens, Janice is returning to intimate gigs and galleries.
Saskia Blum is a small business owner, dog mum and general manager. With a long history in hospitality running high-end cafes, she is a people person first and foremost. Having studied fine art in her hometown of Brisbane, Australia, she has a deep appreciation for the creative industries – but not much else to show for it, because like many young Australians, she came to London and made really good coffee instead.
Saskia runs the cafe that operates out of the Rose Lipman Building, Batch Baby, with her partner Tom who you’re more likely to catch on the floor. She also manages Pavilion Cafe located in Victoria Park, and is the General Manager for Mill Co. She truly understands the value of good communication, organisation and time management.
“In my free time I love reading, playing video games, eating good food and drinking good wine. I’m a proud secret nerd, with a deep seated love of sci-fi and fantasy inherited from my father. I value community and family, and you will catch me out with my dog, Wanda, visiting local nature reserves on a day off.”
