The Hackney One Carnival Exhibition

A colourful consortium of Hackney’s carnival stars are putting on a dazzling exhibition of their prize-winning costumes. Silky, seamless and sequined-to-the-hilt! This special week-long spectacle will launch in style with a neighbourhood party on Monday October 26th. With performances by award winners Yarum Arts, Gahu and Heart of Steel, including Hackneys home grown exhibitors Soca Massive, Pax, Agewell,Beerahaha Sweet Combinations, Jamboulay and Pantonic Orchestra will fill the Rose Lipman’s Archive Gallery with tunes and cheer from 7.30pm. There will even be homemade jerk chicken for some!

Tropical Isles who won 1st on adult’s day and 2nd on children’s day at Notting hill Carnival this summer plus Band of the year and Best Band on the road at Hackney one carnival are based at The Rose Lipman Building all year round, we get to see a lot of their carnival preparations and furore, trust me – these ladies know what they’re doing! It’s a really good family event too – bring a crowd down!”

If you’re looking to jazz up your wardrobe, some garments and costumes will be on sale and any professional queries can be made on site to Winifred Kawonda from Tropical Isles.
